Form and Genre

Introduction

Whether a text is written, spoken, film or drama, there are many forms it may take, and genres it may fit. While the literary form provides a map of the length, type, and intent of a text, the genre a text is placed within stems from the content, style, devices, techniques, theme, and audience/reader impact.

The literary form is likened to the type of building (residential or commercial) while the genre is regarding the more specific and stylistic details (mansion or shopping centre).
